Aart began his career in the notarial profession in 1976, when he joined Mr J. Prins, notary at Amersfoort, as a junior notary. During the successive years he acquired a wealth of experience across the full breadth of the profession and was active in all areas of civil law. In 1989, he succeeded Mr Prins as notary and was appointed chairman of the board of today’s VBC Notarissen.
Alongside his management duties, Aart has in recent years focused on the estate planning practice, the direction of the process resulting in the adoption of a family constitution for family businesses, assistance of wealthy private individuals and the provision of services to associations and foundations. With his wealth of experience, he is regularly requested to act as a mediator in conflicts and as director of legal entities that administer family assets. Aart has several ancillary positions at organisations, including capital funds and charitable institutions active in the fields of culture and care.
Aart was awarded his master’s degree in Dutch Notarial Law in 1974 and in Dutch Civil Law in 1976 from Utrecht University
